Lumin ilta Lumijoella - Lumijoki Winter Experience on uudenlainen koko perheen talvitapahtuma Lumijoen kauniissa Varjakassa: Kokoonnumme Perämeren äärelle helmikuun täydenkuun (lumikuu) aikaan. Kuulemme ja koemme meren talvella jään ja lumen alta. Toteutamme yhteisen lumitaideteoksen.
Hiljaisuuden polku
Lyhtyvalaistu reitti jäällä, jossa pysähdymme kuuntelemaan hiljaisuutta.
Revontulien ja tähtien katselu
Mahdollisuus levittäytyä avaruuspeitteiden päälle havainnoimaan taivaan ja avaruuden ilmiöitä. Paikallinen asiantuntija kertoo tähdistä, tähtikuvioista ja muista taivaan ilmiöistä klo 18.30-19.30.
Musiikki
Soiva meri: Meren ja jään sointi (pakkasessa paukahteleva jää, räsähtely kauempaa mereltä, meren liike ja huokailu jääpeitteen alla).
Tulinuotio
Yksi yhteisöllinen nuotio.
Makkaranpaistoa varten kodassa pidetään hiillosta yllä koko tapahtuman ajan. Paikalliset yrittäjät ja yhdistykset myyvät makkaraa. Ilmainen mehutarjoilu.
Revontuli-lumitaideteos
Moottorisahalla paikallisen moottorisahaveistostaiteilijan veistämä revontuli-lumitaideteos.
Vieraiden -kaikenikäisten- osallistaminen revontuliteoksen tekoon; teoksesta tulee yhteisöllinen -ja muuttuva, kuten revontulet ovat. Lisäksi puhallamme saippuakuplia hangelle ja jäälle, jolloin jäätyvän kuplan pintaan muodostuu kauniit ja uniikit kidekuviot.
Tapahtuman toiminnot voivat olla sääriippuvaisia.
Lumin ilta Lumijoella - Lumijoki Winter Experience
Monday 2., February 2026, 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Lumin ilta Lumijoella – Lumijoki Winter Experience is a new kind of family-friendly winter event held in the beautiful Varjakka area of Lumijoki. We gather by the shores of the Bothnian Bay in Liminganlahti during the beautiful full moon of February. We will listen to and experience the winter sea beneath the ice and snow. Together, we will create a communal snow artwork that will delight all visitors to Varjakka throughout the winter.
5:00 PM – Event opens; free exploration of the experiences
6:00 PM – Heidi Soini, Mayor of Lumijoki, opens the Oulu2026 European Capital of Culture year in Lumijoki
6:30–7:30 PM – A local expert guides A lantern-lit route on the ice telling about stars, constellations, the Northern Lights and other celestial phenomena. Participants may lie down on space blankets to listen and observe the sea, sky and cosmic phenomena.
5:00–8:00 PM – Experiencing the attractions
Path of Silence
A lantern-lit path on the ice, where we will stop to listen to the silence.
Viewing the Northern Lights and Stars
A local expert will talk about the phenomena, stars, constellations and other celestial phenomena 6.30-7.30 pm.
Music
The Sound of the Sea and Ice: The sound of the sea and ice (ice cracking in the freezing cold, the crackling of the sea from further away, the movement of the sea and sighing under the ice cover).
Bonfire
One communal bonfire.
Embers will be kept burning in the hut for the entire event for roasting sausages. Sausages can be purchased from local entrepreneurs and associations.
Northern Lights snow art piece
A local chainsaw Northern Lights snow art work sculpted by a chainsaw sculptor.
Involving guests -of all ages- in the creation of the Northern Lights work; the work becomes communal and changing, just like the Northern Lights. In addition, we blow soap bubbles on the snow and ice, creating beautiful and unique crystal patterns on the surface of the frozen bubble.
